With integrating Mike1D we make a huge step towards a global distribution of Virtual River.

The decision to integrate ***Mike1D* *as the new engine*** was driven by various aspects:

Having Mike1D as the new engine will enable users to benefit from DHI’s excellent, globally distributed and supported software.

For implementing models and exchanging experiences, our customers can team with a global pool of people familiarised with DHI’s products and with a well-organized group of Mike-users.

Mike1D is the completely reengineered kernel of classic Mike11. Thus, we can rely on our experience of many decades of development plus a future with further development of Mike1D driven by DHI.

Mike1D is designed as a kernel that can be perfectly integrated into models and systems which are used in water resources management. It combines the calculation capacity of all 1D-simulation packages which were developed by DHI during the last 25 years.

Thus, Mike1D is already implemented in DHI’s software like Mike Hydro River, Mike Hydro Basin and Mike Urban. Already today there are plans to enhance Mike1D in order to provide a numerical kernel that covers each need of modern water resources management software.
