Within the framework of bundling the operation of all HPPs along the Austrian section of the river Danube, VHP implemented a training simulator covering some 350 km of the river.

At first the simulator was provided for each single powerplant, afterwards two HPPs were linked for training.

The simulator is based on Virtual River. The model for Virtual River was derived from the model used for flood forecast by the Federal State Governments of Upper and Lower Austria as well.
